Paramount has released the first trailer for Tom Cruise’s latest action movie, after receiving excellent reviews for Top Gun: Maverick.

Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is the next in a line of MI films and the first of two parts that will be released in a series from the team formed between Cruise and screenwriter and director Christopher McQuarrie.

The trailer is a surprisingly long look at a film that will not be released until a year from now, in the summer of 2023, due to delays in production caused by the pandemic.

It contains glimpses of a huge range of impressive action sets and stunts, including a base jump started on a motorcycle that Tom Cruise has described as the most dangerous stunt he has ever performed.

According to an interview with Empire Online, Cruise was required to drive a motorcycle off a cliff while playing Ethan Hunt for a stunt in “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.” A parachute would save Hunt and Cruise from a long, hard fall. The actor told the magazine that he had rehearsed the stunt for months but was concerned that it would not go off properly.

The stunt was described by Empire as one of the most dangerous the actor has ever performed, as well as one of the most dangerous ever undertaken in “Mission Impossible” film history. Fortunately for all parties involved, Cruise clearly survived to tell the incredibly dangerous story, which fans can see briefly at the end of the “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One” trailer.

Besides dangerous stunts, the film will also take us around the world, with several Italian filming locations, including Venice, along with mountains, train paths and desert climates.

There are a bunch of returning actors like Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby, while Hayley Attwell also joins the carnage.

Tom Cruise is back in Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

We have a long wait until the film actually comes out, but we can at least be sure to know that the second part will follow shortly – the films are made in fairly quick succession, which makes this part of the plan from the beginning.
