In a new clip from the upcoming sci-fi adventure film The Adam Project, Netflix gives us a look at Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, and Walker Scobell.
The action-packed clips, which were released as part of Netflix’s preview for the films set to debut on the streaming service in 2022, star Reynolds as Adam Reed, Walker Scobell as his 12-year-old self, and Mark Ruffalo as Adam’s late father. To save the future, the three generations must collaborate.
The brief clips also show Reynolds’ Adam and his younger self flying a sci-fi fighter jet, as well as the three actors entering an elevator, with Reynolds’ adult Adam saying, “I feel like a kid again.” We get you Ryan, we totally do.
It is a significant cast. Besides the actors mentioned above, the film stars Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, and Catherine Keener. Reynolds’ mother is played by Garner, and his estranged father is played by Ruffalo.
Stranger Things producer behind The Adam Project
Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy is attached to direct, and Jonathan Topper is penning the script for The Adam Project, which was announced in November 2020. Reynolds also revealed that the first class of trainees from his organization, The Group Effort Initiative, would be joining him on set to help with the film’s production. The Group Effort Initiative aims to assist BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and other members of marginalized communities in breaking into the film industry.

Adam Reed, age 13, and still grieving the sudden death of his father a year earlier, walks into his garage one night to find a wounded pilot hiding there. This mysterious pilot turns out to be the older version of himself from the future, where time travel is in its infancy. He has risked everything to come back in time on a secret mission. Together they must embark on an adventure into the past to find their father, set things right, and save the world. The three working together, both young and grown Adam come to terms with the loss of their father and have a chance to heal the wounds that have shaped them. Adding to the challenge of the mission, the two Adams discover they really don’t like each other very much, and if they’re going to save the world, they’re first going to have to figure out how to get along.
The Adam Project will premiere on Netflix in 2022, though no specific release date has been set at this time.
